Dark Phoenix Blazes Through The Cosmos And Arrives In Fortnite As Latest Marvel Collaboration

Epic Games and Marvel are continuing their legendary partnership by bringing another powerful and beloved superhero to Fortnite that will undoubtedly leave players rising to the occasion and dominate the competition with some cosmic assistance. One of Charles Xavier’s former students and devoted member of the paramilitary group known as the X-Men – Jean Grey – has come to Fortnite in her most powerful form: the Dark Phoenix. Grey possesses telekinetic and telepathic abilities which are quite formidable in the Marvel universe and begins the process of transforming into something much darker and polarizing after being struck by a cosmic force during a rescue mission.

Players can unleash the Dark Phoenix and add her to their Fortnite Locker for a limited time by purchasing the Dark Phoenix Outfit for 1,500 V-Bucks which includes The Phoenix Force Back Bling and the Wrath of the Phoenix Loading Screen which is exclusive to the set and cannot be acquired separately. Those looking to harness the dark energy for themselves can equip the Rising Phoenix Emote to their Outfits for 300 V-Bucks and complete the latest Marvel collaborative set. Dark Phoenix arrived in the Fortnite Item Shop on November 11th, 2021 at 8PM EST and unlike the Eddie Brock Outfit which allows players to switch between Brock and Venom during a match, players will not be able to transform into Jean Grey as Epic Games has not included that particular character.

Jean Grey has seen several adaptations on the big screen including being portrayed by Famke Janssen in X-Men (2000), X2: X-Men United (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) where she officially became the Dark Phoenix character. She was also portrayed by Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) in the prequel films including X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) which also marked the end of the 21st Century Fox produced X-Men films, having been acquired by Disney on March 20th, 2019 in a $71.3 billion dollar merger deal. Future X-Men related projects will now be handled by Marvel Studios with plans to incorporate them into the Marvel Cinematic Universe sometime in the future.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices.
