Galactus has been defeated but the Zero Point remains exposed. As Agent Jones scrambles to assemble a team of the greatest hunters from across realities, another battle is raging across a snowy winter wonderland: Operation Snowdown has arrived. Taking the place of Fortnite Winterfest, Operation Snowdown provides players with a series of challenges to complete and rewards them with FREE cosmetics including: Outfits, Back Bling, Gliders, and more! A NEW challenge will become available each day and can be completed either solo or with duos, trios, and squads – several will require players to recruit and play with their friends in order to complete them.
There are a total of 18 challenges – some award cosmetic items while others award additional XP to help players level up their Season 5 Battle Pass. After completing 9 challenges, the Snowmando skin will be awarded to players with the Frost Squad skin becoming available after completing 12 of the challenges. Other rewards include: Snow Strike Spray, Snow Steel Wrap, Blustery Bag Back Bling, and Winter Wing Glider.
While battling on the ground, players can also take to the skies and engage in aerial combat with the X-4 Stormwing which can be found next to Snowmando Outposts – 5 locations around the island. The Snowblaster Emoji can be earned by traveling 5,000 metres in an X-4 Stormwing – be sure to fuel up and locate the nearest emergency exit prior to takeoff. The Battle Bus is also decked out in holiday decorations as are the supply drops and Presents! have been added to the game which can be found across the map and, when used, spawn a large holiday package filled with several useful items to aid in the fight – a Legendary weapon is guaranteed.
Operation Snowdown will run from December 18th, 2020 and conclude on January 5th, 2021 which gives players approximately 3 weeks to unlock as many rewards as they see fit – no word on if these cosmetics will return to the Item Shop at some point so it might be best to get them while they are readily available.
