Epic Games has announced via the official Fortnite website on March 31st, 2021 that an update will be available to players on Nintendo Switch consoles that will enhance the overall experience on the system with upgrades to the renderer that will make better use of the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) within the existing console unit. The total size of the update will be 140MB and players will need to ensure that enough storage space is available on their Nintendo Switch consoles in order to successfully download the latest update.
What exactly can Nintendo Switch players expect from this update? For starters, it will significantly improve the resolution of the game in both handheld and docked modes which will result in less blurry images without any loss in performance. Gameplay will also see some improvements to framerate that will allow for fewer hitches and provide a smoother experience overall. Occasionally, Fortnite will still utilize Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) when needed to help ensure that a consistent framerate is maintained, but this will occur less frequently with these adjustments; 38% increase in pixels in handheld mode.
While not as crisp as Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players have become accustomed to seeing, the graphical and visual enhancements are still a nice upgrade that will certainly provide a much better gameplay experience with Fortnite while on the go. And with the rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro console allegedly supporting 4K graphics, perhaps the Battle Royale celebrations will soon be on par with that of the other consoles.
