One of the most fundamental components of video games is the process task of levelling up to unlock stronger abilities which can be used to further progress through the game. This can be quite a grueling task with players often required to ‘grind’ or repeat mundane activities over and over before earning enough XP (experience points) to continue their quest. For a brief period of time, Fortnite followed that same mechanic through their Battle Pass – a reward system in-game with varying tiers of unique items for players to gain access to after crossing each threshold. Epic Games introduced a method in 2022 to circumvent the need to marathon matches and get rewards faster: the Level Up Quest Pack.
Players can purchase a featured Level Up Quest Pack from the Item Shop and over the course of four weeks – typically towards the end of a season – can easily attain 28 additional levels with almost little to no effort on the part of the players themselves. Each token grabbed within the game gets players one step closer to that coveted Battle Pass reward and subsequently unlocks a secondary prize after every seven levels – unlikely to return in the future although Epic Games has neither confirmed nor denied whether past bundles will become available again. The first Level Up Quest Pack included the Monarch Outfit with the Omega Knight Outfit and Phantasm Outfit releasing each following season.
The Ayida Level Up Quest Pack could be procured for 1,200 V-Bucks and contained the Ayida Outfit, Dragon’s Charge Back Bling, Dragon’s Dominion Wrap, and Thunderous Yari Pickaxe. An additional Style was unlockable for the Ayida Outfit – Pen and Ink – which utilized a black and white cell-shaded aesthetic similarly found in a previous Peely, Meowcles, and Bushranger Outfit. Epic Games has yet to announce whether they would be releasing Level Up Quest Packs throughout Chapter 4 but players have been enjoying the benefits of them nonetheless; something else could be implemented.
