His name is Alex Murphy – better known as RoboCop – and Epic Games has assigned the cybernetic enforcer to assist The Seven and their Sentries against the scum of the Island which has since become rampant with the ensuing war between The Imagined Order. Based on the iconic 1987 science fiction film RoboCop which starred Peter Weller as the titular character, this collaboration came entirely out of left field and arrived in the Fortnite Item Shop on May 13th, 2022 at 8PM EST with an exclusive bundle that will undoubtedly bring up some fond and nostalgic memories for players. The commercial success of RoboCop would subsequently lead to RoboCop 2 (1990) and RoboCop 3 (1993) being produced with a remake releasing in 2014 which starred Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad) as Alex Murphy.
Players can purchase the RoboCop Bundle for 1,800 V-Bucks which includes the classic 1987 RoboCop Outfit, LEG-209 Back Bling, Lil’ Ed-209 Emote, and LEG-209 Pickaxe. Each aforementioned cosmetic can also be purchased separately with the Outfit, Pickaxe, and Emote costed at 1,500 V-Bucks, 500 V-Bucks, and 500 V-Bucks respectively. Players that decide to purchase the entire RoboCop bundle will receive a discount of 700 V-Bucks as opposed to spending 2,500 V-Bucks for everything on their own. Posting to his official Twitter account after releasing, Donald Mustard, Chief Creative Officer, Epic Games stated that he could not believe that the thing which they had dreamed – referring to RoboCop – had actually manifested itself into reality. A brief shot in the gameplay trailer with a box of donuts reportedly took an inordinate and unspecified amount of time in order to have it included in the promotion.
Epic Games has proven time and time again that anyone – or anything – is Fortnite material as they continue to grow their expanding universe within the game. Players will soon have the opportunity to follow the adventures of Agent Jones as he fights alongside Spider-Man, Shuri, and Wolverine who are in hot pursuit as of a missing piece of the Zero Point. The upcoming Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War comic book event will feature a five-issue run of stories with FREE cosmetic rewards available to those that purchase each subsequent copy; a mysterious sixth bonus reward has been announced for obtaining all five issues – physical or digital versions through the Marvel Unlimited subscription service.
