Microsoft has unveiled the latest addition to the Xbox Wireless Controller family of accessories on August 3rd, 2021 that will bring the Xbox gaming experience to a shimmering NEW level and delight fans around the world. The news was confirmed by Jessica Tsujikawa, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Xbox via the Xbox Wire website which includes additional details regarding the design as well as pricing, pre-order options, participating retailers, and availability.
The colour is called Aqua Shift and features a surreal, colour-shifting blue shimmer which must be held in order to appreciate its mystical beauty, according to Tsujikawa in her post. The prismatic colour was inspired by the fantasy that video games bring into the lives of the gaming community and players will undoubtedly enjoy adding a little bit of magic to their growing Xbox controller collection.
The Xbox Wireless Controller – Aqua Shift Special Edition is the first accessory to feature rubberized grips with a unique and dual colour swirl on every unit which ensures that no two units are exactly the same. There is also a textured material on the triggers, bumpers, and back case to protect them during those heated and intense gameplay moments while keeping players connected to their favourite games with their family, friends, and online communities.
Xbox recently reopened the Xbox Design Lab on June 17th, 2021 which allows players to customize their own personal Xbox controller with a variety of colours as well as the choice of etching their Gamertag or other short message into their design; rubberized grips were previously available prior to the temporary shutdown of the service and have yet to make their return at this point in time.
