Fortnite Chapter 2 Is Officially Wrapping Up With Players Preparing For “The End” In Epic Finale Event

The time has come to say goodbye to the Fortnite Chapter 2 Island as Epic Games has officially announced that players will be jumping into the next era of Battle Royale goodness contained within Chapter 3 a little sooner than previously expected. The conclusion of Chapter 2 will now take place on December 4th, 2021 at 4PM EST with an explosive Finale Event titled “The End” as The Cube Queen prepares her final endgame where nothing will ever be the same. Players originally expected the upcoming Live Event to drop on December 5th, 2021 as noted in the current Battle Pass which has since been corrected to reflect the updated time frame. Chapter 1 of Fortnite wrapped up on October 13th, 2019 with Season X and it was theorized that Epic Games would likely follow that same format with the Chapter 2 Island but that is no the longer the case with “The End” approaching.

For those that are unfamiliar, Fortnite Live Events are once-in-a-lifetime experiences that players can participate in together with their friends alongside millions of other players all around the world simultaneously. They are most often story related and are influenced by the narrative that develops over time with updates, characters, and Quests filling in the blanks and hinting at what possibly could be coming in the future. The Season 7 storyline was titled “Invasion” and revolved around a rather large Alien Mothership hovering ominously above the Fortnite Island with players working in tandem with The Imagined Order to hatch a plan to infiltrate the spacecraft and bring it down.

Epic Games made the announcement on November 24th, 2021 via social media that Chapter 2 would be ending with “The End” Finale Event after weeks of speculation and leaks supported the idea that Chapter 2 was gearing up to conclude rather than proceed with Season 9 and Season X as previously done with Chapter 1 of the game. Longtime players will recognize the significance of “The End” as it was also the name of the Season X Finale Event from Chapter 1 which ended with everything getting sucked into a large Black Hole for 48 hours and it is being speculated that a similar occurrence will happen after players take on The Cube Queen in one last stand for the fate of the Fortnite Island.

Players will have the opportunity to squad up with their friends to challenge The Cube Queen and her unwavering corruption with “The End” experience capable of supporting a maximum of 16 partied up players. The lobby will be available 30 minutes prior to the start of the Finale Event and Epic Games recommends that players arrive with plenty of time to join their friends and ensure that they do not miss out on witnessing the final showdown. Content Creators are also advised to check that their video editing software is primed, calibrated, and ready to capture the experience in its entirety as replays will be unavailable given that there will be scheduled downtime afterwards.

And with “The End” Finale Event arriving a day earlier than previously expected, Epic Games is awarding players with a bonus of 225,000 XP which will help those struggling to unlock any remaining Battle Pass rewards including the Carnage Outfit and The Cube Queen herself. Participating in the experience comes with an added incentive as players that fight back against The Cube Queen will also receive an exclusive Loading Screen and Wrap which will not be available in any other capacity; rewards are likely to be deposited into eligible Fortnite Lockers once Chapter 3 officially begins. As the clock continues to tick towards the end of Chapter 2 and with a new beginning on the horizon, Epic Games has a few final reminders for players to be aware of that they should take into careful consideration.

For starters, any remaining Quests must be completed before December 4th, 2021 at 4PM EST such as Quest Pages for The Cube Queen, collecting Colour Bottles and Rainbow Ink to unlock Toona Fish Styles, as well as exchanging Battle Stars for any outstanding rewards. At the conclusion of Chapter 2 in a few days, any unused Battle Stars will be automatically exchanged for the next available reward with Toona Fish Styles not following suit. Quests that are leftover from the Graveyard Drift Quest Pack and other specialty bundles purchased from the Fortnite Item Shop will indeed carry over to Chapter 3 so players can rest easy about potentially losing their progress or any rewards.
