Mario Golf: Super Rush Will Swing Onto Fairways And Nintendo Switch Consoles Later This Year
Mario and his friends are ready to tee-up and hit the links once again in Mario Golf: Super Rush which is the latest installment in the popular Mario Golf series. Players last joined Mario back in 2014 with Mario Golf: World Tour on Nintendo 3DS but have not participated in friendly and competitive competitions on home consoles since 2003 with Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo made the surprise announcement on February 17th, 2021 during their latest Nintendo Direct presentation which was their first dedicated Nintendo Direct event since September 4th, 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout 2020, a series of smaller presentations were held virtually to help fill the void and included updates from both Development and Publishing Partners of Nintendo that unfortunately left a lot of fans disappointed. Gamers have been eager to hear updates regarding the development of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which first made headlines after it was announced on June 11th, 2019 at E3 2019 as well as Metroid Prime 4 which has not received any sort of update in nearly 5 years.
Mario Golf: Super Rush will be the biggest Mario Golf game to date and support up to four player local and online play with some familiar Mushroom Kingdom characters including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Waluigi, and more. Examine the course terrain, analyze wind patterns, and utilize the Shot Gauge to see how your shot will curve on the slopes along the fairway to help ace your shots and come out on top of the competition. Players will be able to immerse themselves in their game even further with NEW motion controls that will give them the sensation of playing and improving their game on an actual golf course.
There are several NEW game modes exclusive to Mario Golf: Super Rush that will provide hours of fun and heated competition including Speed Golf which is a marathon style race to the finish. Each player hits their golf ball at the same time and continues down the fairway to try and reach the hole before the other players with no need to wait your turn; special shots and dashes will be the key to victory. Story Mode is also included that sees players taking control of their own Mii character as they work to build up their golfing skills with the help of various Mushroom Kingdom characters like Goomba and Koopa Troopa and allocate their experience points to completely customize their character skills and abilities.
Those who missed the latest Nintendo Direct on February 17th, 2021 can view the entire 50-minute presentation on the official Nintendo Direct website as well as on the official Nintendo YouTube channel.
Mario Golf: Super Rush is scheduled to release on June 25th, 2021 exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.
