Kicking off the Metallica festivities is the debut of Battle Stage – a competitive multiplayer mode for Fortnite Festival whereby sixteen players strive to become the last person standing. Each round consists of a four-song setlist with everyone playing the same song; owned Jam Tracks not eligible to ensure someone does not have a competitive advantage. Players can launch attacks at opponents after gaining enough Overdrive which temporarily negates them from performing and simultaneously boosts the score of the attacker. Battle Stage also supports Private Matches with up to four players and purchased Jam Tracks are available considering its goal is to facilitate friendly competition amongst friends.

The fourth iteration of the Fortnite Festival Pass is laden with challenges whereby players can earn enough Festival Points and Wristbands required to unlock each available reward. Cosmetics featured in the FREE and Premium Reward Tracks are not exclusive to the Festival Pass and Epic Games could characteristically utilize them in other ventures outside of Fortnite Festival including compensation from unexpected downtime. Challenges can be completed individually or together with friends.
