Rainbow Royale Celebration Brought DC Superhero Dreamer To Fortnite Where Acceptance Flourishes

Everyone has a seat on the Battle Bus – no matter what – and Epic Games ensured that message was heard as the annual Rainbow Royale returned for another year. The Fortnite community is built from a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life with the event commemorating love, acceptance, and understanding for anyone that enjoys the game. Festivities began on August 31st, 2022 at 8PM EST with players having the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities, unlock FREE rewards, and experience the Rainbow Crossroads map with their friends in Creative mode. Rainbow Royale officially wrapped up on September 16th, 2022 but is set to return once again in 2023 and beyond.

The Item Shop featured a plethora of FREE cosmetics to celebrate the Rainbow Royale event including The Dip Emote, Every Heart Emoticon, Prismatic Keepsakes Spray, Say It Proud Lobby Track, Mazy and the Echoes Loading Screen, and Rainbow Royale 2021 Loading Screen. Players whom missed out on the 2021 Rainbow Royale offerings could also grab those at no additional cost. Epic Games worked with artist Sophie Campbell – The Abandoned, Mountain Girl, and Shadoweyes – to design the artwork for Mazy and the Echoes; a reference to Jem and the Holograms which Campbell serves as co-creator with Kelly Thompson as well as artist for the 2015 revival series of the classic 1985 cartoon.

Epic Games made a conscious effort to ensure that Rainbow Royale 2022 was extra special with the inclusion of Nia Nal – reporter for CatCo Worldwide Media – from the hit television series Supergirl that concluded an impressive six season run in November of last year. Taking on the alias of Dreamer in the show, Nia Nal was portrayed by actress Nicole Maines who is currently crafting her own graphic novel based on the character which has yet to set a release date. Rainbow Royale hit the airwaves in Fortnite as recording artists from the LGBTQIA+ community could be heard on Icon Radio whilst driving around in-game with Janelle Monáe, Todrick Hall, and Lady Gaga among those featured with DJ Matteo Lane providing colourful commentary and friendly banter for players to enjoy between songs.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
