Fortnite OG Season Revisits Chapter 1 Island Where Nostalgia Triumphs With Phases Of Fortnite History

Nostalgia has taken over Fortnite for a limited time and players are loving it. Epic Games has rewound the clock back to 2018 where the original Chapter 1 map reigned supreme and will continuously update gameplay on a weekly basis with iconic locations and previously vaulted weapons. This blast from the past kicked off on November 3rd, 2023 and wraps up on December 2nd, 2023 with downtime expected to follow shortly afterwards; a live event is almost certain. Players will experience an accelerated time frame encompassing Season 5 through Season X which include respected map changes – unfortunately elements like The Final Showdown or similar classic events will not be recurring in-game again.

Despite what the name suggests, Fortnite OG does feature some mechanics that were not present during the early days – namely Zero Build which offers players the opportunity to enjoy Fortnite without requiring an engineering degree; structural building was a defining selling point. Tactical Sprint and Mantling have also been carried over – now considered “quality of life” enhancements – and removing them would be detrimental to what the gaming experience has evolved into since launch. Ziplines have also been made more abundant within Zero Build as reaching higher ground is virtually impossible without the ability to build ramps; positively received and approved by the community.

Players will be able to progress through a scaled back OG Pass which features 50+ new cosmetics including remixed versions of previous Battle Pass offerings – available for purchase (950 V-Bucks) with Fortnite Crew members gaining immediate access to it at no additional charge. The secret skin this season is Spectra Knight – an ultra-customizable knight with different colour and helmet options which are unlockable through Weekly Quests and pays homage to previous skins including Red Knight and Ultima Knight respectively. Players have until December 2nd, 2023 at 10PM EST to complete their entire Battle Pass progression with Epic Games releasing updates through the following schedule:

  • Season 5 – November 3rd, 2023
  • Season 6 – November 9th, 2023
  • Season 7 & 8 – November 16th, 2023
  • Season 9 & X – November 23rd, 2023

Weapons which originated in Chapter 1 are getting unvaulted including the Assault Rifle and Pump Shotgun alongside the Port-a-Fortress and Storm Flip throwables with even more to discover over the next few weeks. Players that followed the storyline six years ago will recall Chapter 1 dramatically ending with the island getting pulled into a black hole – servers were offline for approximately 36 hours with nothing but total emptiness. Epic Games has not confirmed exactly how players will transition from their current environment to Chapter 5 in early December but more information should become available soon; the last live event was Fracture which took place nearly one year ago.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, Amazon Luna, and Android devices with iOS compatibility available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
