Limited Beta Begins For Xbox Cloud Gaming Service To Invited Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members
Xbox is continuing their mission to empower gamers to play the games that they want, with the people that they want, anywhere they want in the world. Video games have the unique power to connect and bring people together – now more than ever – and Xbox wants to make gaming even more accessible to people all around the world. Jerret West, CVP, Microsoft Gaming announced on December 9th, 2020 via the Xbox Wire that Cloud Gaming (Beta) would be coming to PC and iOS devices in Spring 2021 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members through the Xbox App and mobile/desktop web browsers.
The upcoming beta would add over one billion devices to the Xbox ecosystem and allow gamers to play Minecraft Dungeons with their friends on Xbox using Touch Controls on an iPhone or squad up with their fellow Guardians to play Destiny 2: Beyond Light on a Surface Pro during their downtime or between meetings. No matter which screen is being used, Xbox wants to make it easy to continue the game and connect with friends and Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President & Head of Product, Project xCloud confirmed via Xbox Wire on April 19th, 2021 that select Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members would be invited to begin testing the Xbox Cloud Gaming service for Windows PC and Apple devices.
Xbox has launched an Xbox Cloud Gaming portal website where invited players can get started and begin playing over 100 Xbox Game Pass titles through Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari web browsers. The simplified and universal landing page will provide a more streamlined experience and help make cloud gaming approachable to more people over time. Additional invitations will be sent out on a continuous basis to players across all 22 supported countries including Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, and the United States.
Feedback will be evaluated and the overall experience will be improved with even more devices scheduled to be added in the future. Xbox expects to iterate quickly with plans to open Xbox Cloud Gaming to all existing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in the coming months; being a current Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member does NOT guarantee access to the beta with invitations being sent to the email address associated with each Xbox profile and cannot be shared or traded with friends and/or family members.
