Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon Finds New Audience On Nintendo Switch With 3DS Game Remastered In HD
When it comes to dealing with ghosts and spectral apparitions, Luigi is the only plumber qualified for the position and Nintendo is bringing one of his most haunting chapters which was previously released exclusively on Nintendo 3DS handhelds. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a remastered port of the original title which launched in 2013 – Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – developed by Canadian studio Next Level Games respectively; worked on Punch-Out! and the Mario Strikers series. Reviews for Dark Moon were positive enough for a trilogy with Next Level Games launching Luigi’s Mansion 3 six years later. Nintendo will provide more information regarding a possible release window for Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD soon.
The Dark Moon which rests above Evershade Valley has been shattered, causing the once peaceful ghosts to become mischievous and unchecked. Quirky paranormal scientist Professor E. Gadd contacts his friend Luigi from the safety of his bunker and tasks him with locating the shards and restore the Dark Moon to its rightful place in the sky – armed with an upgraded Poltergust 5000 which is equipped with a Strobulb attachment to briefly stun tougher enemies. Luigi is no longer confined to a singular mansion and will venture out to explore nearby locations including Haunted Towers that plays host to overgrown plant life and Old Clocktower that has been ravaged by time itself; old and decrepit.
Players will have an opportunity to explore the various haunted locations in Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD with their friends in ScareScraper mode – a towering haunt filled with ghosts and challenges separated from the main adventure. There are four modes – Hunter, Rush, Polterpup, and Surprise – to experience alongside up to three friends co-operatively through local and online functionality. Nintendo released a remake of the original Luigi’s Mansion (2005) for Nintendo 3DS in 2018 and should sales prove fruitful with Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD next year, Nintendo could easily complete the trilogy in a similar fashion given that players have been enjoying massive amounts nostalgia as retro titles find new audiences.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is scheduled to launch in 2024 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
