New Pokémon Snap Will Explore The Beauty And Wonder Of The Lental Region

The 25th anniversary of Pokémon is in full swing as Nintendo prepares to celebrate the milestone with plenty of surprises and announcements all year long. Debuting in 1996, Pokémon has since become a worldwide phenomenon with a loyal and passionate fanbase that spans across multiple generations – from Kanto to Galor – in a variety of video games, movies, and television shows.

While the core gameplay mechanic of a Pokémon game is to catch, battle, trade, and evolve your team, Nintendo got creative in 1999 and released Pokémon Snap on Nintendo 64 consoles which saw players taking photos of Pokémon in their natural habitat from a first-person perspective. It was a fun twist on the standard Pokémon formula which rightfully earned it the love and admiration from players all around the world. And after 22 long and Pokémon Snap-less years, the wait is finally over as Nintendo is gearing up to send players on another amazing Pokémon adventure with plenty more Pokémon to capture… with a camera.

New Pokémon Snap is the highly anticipated sequel to the 1999 Nintendo 64 classic and sees players take the role of an up and coming Pokémon photographer as they work together with Professor Mirror and his assistant, Rita, to survey and catalogue the many different species of Pokémon living within this untouched natural marvel. From dense jungles to vast deserts, players will discover all kinds of species and can interact with them by throwing Fluffruit – a tasty fruit found across the region – and watching them eat; perfect time to capture a photo and share with your friends!

After each expedition, players will have their photos evaluated and scored by Professor Mirror himself based on a subject’s pose, how large they appear in the photo, and their position within the photo. The auto driving NEO-ONE vehicle will allow players to focus their attention on capturing that perfect Pokémon moment and become the best Pokémon photographer!

New Pokémon Snap is scheduled to release on April 30th, 2021 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.
