Rocket Racing Shifts Into Turbo With A High-Octane Arcade Experience From Rocket League Developers

Boundary-defying antics and competitive racing come together in Rocket Racing – the second Fortnite experience integrated into the evolving game. Players got their first look at it during The Big Bang event held on December 2nd, 2023 which is developed by Psyonix – development team behind the highly successful Rocket League franchise. Epic Games has brought Rocket League content to Fortnite on several occasions – Llama-Rama and Sideswipe – but the most prominent inclusion occurred in April 2023 when it was announced that the Rocket Pass Premium would be provided to Fortnite Crew subscribers as part of the exclusive offerings; approximately $12.50 CAD in additional membership value.

Players can race across 26 tracks with three levels of difficulty – Novice, Advanced, and Expert – with more scheduled to release next year. Rocket Racing has a similar feel to traditional arcade racing games like Mario Kart but utilizes that famous Rocket League flair; drifting, flying, air dodge, and turbo boost become quintessential skills required to overtake opponents. Players can subsequently climb the ranks and qualify for Unreal based matches, challenging only the best racers in the world. Epic Games intends to provide cross-game support between Fortnite and Rocket League with cosmetics obtained in either game being accessible for both games – the Item Shop contains three such offerings:

  • Diesel Bundle (2,500 V-Bucks) | Diesel Car Body | Six Exclusive Decals
  • Cyclone Bundle (1,500 V-Bucks) | Cyclone Car Body | Six Exclusive Declas
  • Jäger 619 Bundle (1,500 V-Bucks) | Jäger 619 Car Body | Six Exclusive Decals

Epic Games has designated the launch of Rocket Racing as Season Zero with Quests available to help familiarize players with the mechanics and ensures that speed run leaderboards, further customization options, and creator-made tracks are planned for an early 2024 release. Players have a chance to unlock the Jackie Outfit and Dieselback Pack Back Bling by completing Quests which will remain active through March 26th, 2024 – unknown if they will be available in the Item Shop at a later date.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, Amazon Luna, and Android devices with iOS compatibility available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
