Ash Williams From The Evil Dead Franchise Hunkers Down At Knowby Cabin During Fortnitemares Event
Halloween returned to Fortnite once again this year with Fortnitemares – a spooktacular celebration which delivers an assortment of tricks and treats for players to enjoy throughout the entire month of October. Epic Games unvaulted enough seasonal cosmetics to fill a haunted cornfield with returning favourites alongside the winners of the Concept Royale contest. And in true Fortnite fashion, the game featured a popular horror icon – Ash Williams – from the Evil Dead series which stars legendary actor Bruce Campbell as the right-handed chainsaw wielding action hero. Epic Games released him in the Item Shop on October 22nd, 2022 at 8PM EST and was available for a limited engagement.
Players could purchase the Ash Williams Pack for 1,800 V-Bucks which included the Ash Williams Outfit, Boomstick Back Bling, Necronomicon Ex-Mortis Back Bling, Chainsaw Hand Pickaxe, It’s a Trick! Emote, and Hello, Henrietta Loading Screen. Unlike previous bundles, players were not able to individually purchase items contained within the special pack; certainly something targeted towards fans and those familiar with the Sam Raimi directed franchise. Ash Williams subsequently appeared as an NPC (Non-Player Character) on the island around the Knowby Cabin location – one that was directly inspired by the same decrepit building seen in both The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II films.

Bruce Campbell returned as the iconic character in Ash vs Evil Dead – a television series which ran for three seasons. The show took place 30 years after the original films and followed recluse Ash Williams who unwittingly reawakened the same curse from the Necronomicon book. Campbell has confirmed that talks for an animated revival have begun with no further information available at this time.
Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
