Fortnitemares Held Quite The Monster Mash Party With Escape Rooms And Hauntingly Fun Challenges

This is Halloween – Fortnite style! Spooktacular festivities took over the island in October with players enjoying an assortment of tricks and treats courtesy of Fortnitemares – an annual tradition. Malevolent forces took a back seat this year with DJ Lyka turning up the volume over at the Reality Tree for quite the vibrant celebration of all thinks spooky. The event kicked off on October 18th, 2022 and concluded November 1st, 2022 at 2AM EST with players having an opportunity to earn a variety of rewards and purchase Halloween themed cosmetics from the Item Shop. Epic Games previously introduced iconic Universal Pictures monsters and Rick Grimes from the popular series The Walking Dead which is ending after eleven seasons – several spinoff shows are currently in development.

Players landing at the Reality Tree POI could stand on an Alteration Altar platform and perform an exclusive Emote to bestow the Howler Claws Mythic item upon themselves – had the power to unleash three supernatural canine powers: Wolfscent Ability, Slash Ability, and Air Slash Ability. Players were able to track nearby opponents (Wolfscent) and devastate them with a four-combo melee attack (Slash) or damage them after performing a double-jump maneuver. Alteration Altars could also be found at six other locations around the island including Chrome Jam Junction and Flutter Barn. A cooldown period ensured that the Howler Claws were not overpowered against other players – 20 seconds.

The threat of The Cube Queen returned with Zero Build Horde Rush where players and teammates joined forces to combat waves of monsters – racking up score multipliers before tackling the Caretaker in a final showdown. Players who finished eight Horde Rush Quests before November 15th, 2022 were able to unlock the Pickle Rick Back Bling with Epic Games stating that it was not exclusive and might appear in the Item Shop at a later date. Additional Fortnitemares Quests dropped over two weeks with the Everything’s End Glider, Chrome Cage Back Bling, and Unmaker Pickaxe up for grabs.

Along with Halloween themed Outfits – Sinister Glare and Undying Sorrow – Epic Games had locked players inside four Escape Rooms with in-game tasks handing out plenty of treats including Battle Pass XP and cosmetic rewards: Spoooooky Emoticon, OctoEye Spray, and Niterave Wrap. Lastly, members of the Fortnite Crew got their first look at the November Pack – Inkquisitor – lurking within a ritualistic basement hidden underneath Grim Gables and sporting an infinite supply of firefly jars.
