Blanka And Sakura Join Fellow Street Fighter Alumni In Fortnite To Celebrate 35th Anniversary Of Series

Epic Games recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of Street Fighter by adding two more beloved combatants to the Fortnite roster – Blanka and Sakura – which brings the total number of franchise characters up to six; more likely to come in the future. Players had the opportunity to grab the latest batch of Street Fighter cosmetics from the Item Shop on April 28th, 2022 as well as participate in an exclusive two-day tournament – Blanka & Sakura Cup – beginning on April 27th, 2022 which featured participants competing to reach the top position within their own respected regions. Those who were able to successfully outlast their opponents were the recipients of the Bonus Stage Loading Screen as their prize; console and mobile events were scheduled with Zero Build and Battle Royale rules.

The Sakura & Blanka Bundle could be purchased for 2,100 V-Bucks and came packaged together with the Blanka Outfit, Blanka-Chan Back Bling, Blanka Backflip Built-In Emote, Sakura Outfit, Hanakaze Claw Back Bling, Sakura’s Victory Sway Built-In Emote, and the Bonus Stage Loading Screen for those that were unable to participate in the previous tournaments. The Blanka Outfit and Sakura Outfit also came equipped with the Blanka Delgado Style and Sakura Gym Styles respectively with players able to pick and choose their favourite character – and purchase separately – for 1,500 V-Bucks but received a decent discount of 800 V-Bucks from procuring the Sakura & Blanka Bundle instead.

The Street Fighter collaboration continued with the Sakura & Blanka Gear Bundle which was available for 1,600 V-Bucks and featured Tropical Hazard Kebab Pickaxe, Fighting Tournament Trophy Pickaxe, and Kayari Buta Glider. Players also had the option of selecting individual items for 800 V-Bucks each whilst receiving a discount of 800 V-Bucks once again through the bundle. Epic Games often rotates specialty cosmetics – including collaborations – through the Item Shop on a regular basis especially when more characters are added into the mix; could Zangief, Hakan, Juri Han, or Ken Masters be next on the list? Players should undoubtedly expect more crossovers in the future.

The Gaming Legends Series is continuously evolving and bringing more iconic video game characters into Fortnite with delegates including Master Chief (Halo Infinite), Kratos (God of War), Aloy (Horizon Forbidden West), Chris Redfield (Resident Evil), Jill Valentine (Resident Evil), Marcus Fenix (Gears of War), Kait Diaz (Gears of War), Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin’s Creed II), and Eivor Varinsdottir (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) with Rocket League frequently appearing in Fortnite too – often becomes added into the game through an annual Llama-Rama crossover event; Epic Games owns both properties.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
