Optimus Prime And Ancient Ruins Await Players As Fortnite WILDS Kicks Off With Rumble In The Jungle
Welcome to the jungle – Fortnite WILDS has arrived. Epic Games officially launched the penultimate season of Chapter 4 on June 9th, 2023 which saw a dense jungle biome manifest from the centre of the island complete with treasure abundant ancient ruins and ridable raptors. And keeping with tradition from previous seasons, Epic Games has intertwined another collaboration – Optimus Prime – into this storyline alongside Optimus Primal to coincide with the release of the highly anticipated blockbuster film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in theatres. Fortnite WILDS concludes on August 25th, 2023 at which point the supposed final season of Chapter 4 will take place – Epic Games has yet to confirm.
The unearthed jungle biome boasts and array of traversable mechanics including Grind Vines and blooming Hop Flowers which propel players into the canopies above. On the ground, strolling through Mud comes with added benefits: evade thermal detection and repel aggressive Wildwasp swarms in hot pursuit. The Transformers crossover has subsequently brought pieces of Cybertron to the island as players can unleash a powerful sonic blast from the Cyberton Cannon and listen to audio recordings from the famed Autobot leader himself – voiced by the incomparable Peter Cullen. Players will find other floral fauna throughout the jungle including Bomb Flowers, Stink Flowers, and Slurp Flowers which pretty much operate exactly as expected: destruction, minor damage, and shield gains.
At the beginning of the season, players could add to their Transformers experience by purchasing the Optimus Primal Bundle for 1,800 V-Bucks which included the Optimus Primal Outfit with Built-In Go Primal Emote, Maximal Emblem Back Bling, and Sonic Swords Pickaxe with Reactive Style. Players could also procure cosmetics on their own with the Outfit and Pickaxe available for 1,600 V-Bucks and 800 V-Bucks respectively; a discount of 600 V-Bucks was offered through the bundle. Epic Games has announced that more Transformers characters will be making their way to the island via the upcoming Transformers Pack which will release on October 21st, 2023 in both physical and digital formats.
The Fortnite storyline could potentially see a return to familiar form this season as players witnessed former adversary Doctor Slone make her triumphant return during the final moments of the cinematic trailer. It seems that Epic Games has major plans for Slone in the near future given that participants witnessed the Imagined Order executive meet an unequivocal end during the Collision live event which rounded out the Chapter 3 – Season 2 storyline. Dialogue found in-game reveals that Doctor Slone is no longer serving the Imagined Order and allegedly holds the key to saving the beloved island.
