PlayStation State Of Play (Full Recap) | 05.30.24

It’s officially the start of “gamer summer” and PlayStation kicked things off by serving up a delightful tasting menu of titles that are on the horizon for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 hardware – majority of which are dropping before the end of the year. State of Play showcased fourteen games in total during the 35 minute presentation and we’ve compiled all the announcement trailers in one convenient place and you can watch the entire broadcast below or individual snippets at your leisure:

PlayStation State of Play – Full Presentation

Concord

Concord – developed by Firewalk Studios – is a 5v5 first-person shooter set in the fictitious Concord galaxy where players take control of guns-for-hire known as Freegunners in fast paced arena gameplay similar to that of Overwatch and Valorant respectively. At launch, Concord will feature 16 characters alongside additional maps, modes, and cinematic vignettes post-launch and FREE of charge. Players will also have an opportunity to see their favourite Freegunners grow with ongoing narrative arcs which debut weekly in-game and focus on their relationships as the world of Concord unfolds.

Concord launches on August 23rd, 2024 exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles.

God of War: Ragnarök – PC

The award winning God of War Ragnarök (2022) is finally coming to Windows PC with unlocked frame rates and true 4K resolution. From a technological standpoint, this release features full integration with NVIDIA RTX Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), and Intel XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) with included 21:9 ultra-widescreen and 32:9 super ultra-widescreen support for compatible devices. New Game+ mode and Valhalla post-launch DLC will be included.

Players that pre-purchase the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store before launch will receive:

  • Kratos Risen Snow Armor and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic in-game cosmetics

God of War Ragnarök launches on September 19th, 2024 for Windows PC.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is being developed by Omega Force and sees the franchise returning to its hack and slash roots. Players will engage in 1 vs. 1000 sequences with non-stop action on the battlefield which veteran players come to expect while being approachable for newcomers. Omega Force has utilized the PlayStation 5 hardware to create a Warrior-like Battlefield system to challenge players with massive armies. Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a nameless protagonist this time around.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins launches in 2025 for PlayStation 5 consoles.

Infinity Nikki

Developed by Infold Games – Infinity Nikki merges dress-up gameplay with open-world exploration where players can use special abilities to solve perplexing puzzles. Craft additional outfits with gathered materials from fishing, catching bugs, and collecting wool – in a relaxing atmosphere without any worries whatsoever. Players can use Momo’s Camera to snap photos and transform Miraland into their very own photography studio. A beta test will take place during Q3 2024 – details coming soon.

Infinity Nikki is scheduled to launch in 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles.

Ballad of Antara

Ballad of Antara is a free-to-play action RPG from Tipsworks Studio where players walk between two intertwined worlds – each having their own geological scale and cultural variations. An ancient power is threatening the essence of the living world and Emissaries are the key to defeating the calamity plaguing this land. Ballad of Antara will offer an engrossing single-player narrative alongside multiplayer support with up to three friends. Additional Emissaries and zones are planned with updates.

Ballad of Antara is scheduled to launch in 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles.

Skydance’s Behemoth

Skydance Games is dropping something BIG with Skydance’s Behemoth offering a dark fantasy that stretches the boundaries of VR experiences. Players will explore a grim world teeming with mystery and danger – everything wants to kill you! The Forsaken Lands are home to marauders and zealots that cannot be reasoned with and Skydance’s Behemoth features an exciting twist on their signature combat system including but not limited to extreme amounts of gore and dismemberment. Taking down Behemoth’s is no easy task – many have tried and fallen before you; every skill is necessary to succeed and Skydance Games promises plenty of “pucker factor” moments for a visceral experience.

Alien: Rogue Incursion

In space, no one can hear you scream! Alien: Rogue Incursion is a single-player, action-horror game featuring an all-new storyline. Developed by Survios – players will explore an overrun facility on Purdan while avoiding ferocious and unpredictable Xenomorphs lurking in the dark. Alien: Rogue Incursion offers players a truly terrifying experience with heart-pounding combat where discharging pulse rifles isn’t always the right strategy – Xenomorphs might bring some friends along to meet you.

Marvel Rivals

Excelsior! Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 team-based PVP shooter developed by NetEase Games where comic book fans can immerse themselves in the Marvel universe unlike ever before. Heroes are split amongst three categories: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist respectively. Players can partner up with their friends and unleash Team-Up Abilities – offering wickedly powerful attacks. A closed beta test is slated to take place in July 2024 with over 20 characters joining the roster at launch including Venom and Adam Warlock – Scarlet Spider is confirmed to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive character.

Marvel Rivals will launch on PlayStation 5 consoles – date yet to be announced.

Where Winds Meet

Developed by Everstone Studio – Where Winds Meet offers players a Wuxia open-world experience reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of The Flying Daggers respectively. The game is set during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms – a time of great turbulence and change for China which serves as the perfect backdrop for the young ambitious hero. Where Winds Meet is the product of Everstone Studio dedicating 5 years to develop and introduce players to Wuxia martial arts and its unique charm. The game also features some real-life fighting moves for authenticity.

Where Winds Meet will launch on PlayStation 5 consoles – date yet to be announced.

Until Dawn

Until Dawn has been completely rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 – adding more emotional depth with improved character animations and a haunting soundtrack orchestrated by legendary Canadian horror composer Mark Korven (The First Omen) himself. Ballistic Moon worked feverishly to maintain the original narrative but have simultaneously seized the opportunity to expand upon unexplored portions of the story including unseen corners of Blackwood Mountain and more! A third-person perspective has been implemented to allow for new interactions encountered during that dark night.

Path of Exile II

Developed by Grinding Gear Games – Path of Exile 2 is a free-to-play action RPG with couch co-op integrated into the game, allowing players to adventure together through a single account or from two separate Path of Exile accounts on the same console. Players can choose between twelve character classes and combine different skills to create a custom build that matches their playstyle. Path of Exile 2 offers a robust skill tree system with cross-play and cross-progression confirmed – campaign has six narrative acts with an endgame scenario – over 100 maps – accessible following its conclusion.

Path of Exile II will go into Early Access on PlayStation 5 later this year.

Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 is a faithful remake of the classic 2001 survival horror game – focusing on the original protagonists: James and Maria who are voiced by Luke Roberts (The Batman) and Salóme Gunnarsdóttir (Pennyworth) respectively. The camera has shifted to over-the-shoulder which gives the player more control over James however the atmosphere remains intact. Players are still going to fear venturing out into the fog because enemy encounters have been altered, giving more distinct and unpredictable combat scenarios; puzzles have received a similar treatment to enrich the experience.

Silent Hill 2 launches on October 8th, 2024 for PlayStation 5 consoles.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds transports players to the Forbidden Lands – a vast “living world” teeming with brooding monsters and dynamic environments. Players will navigate through different ecosystems that sport unique features including swaying grasslands and twisting rock formations; monsters adapt to weather patterns as does the landscape – making it really feel alive. Riding a Seikret will make the hunt a lot easier as they possess a strong sense of smell. Players will be able to wield fourteen weapon types: Great Sword, Hammer, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Heavy Bowgun, and more!

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to launch in 2025 for PlayStation 5 consoles.

Astro Bot

Astro Bot is back for a super-sized adventure! This adorable hero debuted on PlayStation 4 and has captured the imaginations – and hearts – of players around the world. The game features 80+ levels to explore across six galaxies including lush forests, sandy beaches, and hot volcanoes with DualSense functionality catered specifically for this experience. Encounter 70+ different baddie types and massive bosses at the end of each galaxy hiding wonderful secrets. The development team at Team Asobi crafted Astro Bot with love and it will undoubtedly put a smile on everyone’s face at launch.
