Epic Games Celebrates International Women’s Day With FREE Rewards And Female Creators In Fortnite
In honour of International Women’s Day which is observed on March 8th every year, Epic Games is celebrating women all around the world – including those within the Fortnite community – by offering players access to FREE in-game rewards, highlighting female generated Island maps, and also featuring female artists on the Icon Radio station. The sky above the Fortnite Island has been given a makeover as the Moon will now be shown as a Heart throughout the duration of the festivities which are currently scheduled (most) to conclude on March 15th, 2022 at 10AM EST. Those looking for more ways to show their support should keep an eye on the Women of the eRena (WOTE) Featuring Fortnite competition which is scheduled to take place on April 10th, 2022 with a $75,000 prize pool up for grabs!
Players can collect four special cosmetic rewards from the Item Shop for FREE until March 14th, 2022 at 8PM EST. They can be found under the “Celebrating Women” section and include the Heart Sign Emote, Per Aspera Ad Astra Wrap, I Am Fearless Lobby Track, and Hop And A Wink Spray. Each of these items are eligible to be gifted and sent to a friend – should they be unable to grab them for themselves which will undoubtedly put a smile on their face. The Heart Sign Emote is also a Synchronized Emote meaning the heart icon that appears above a player’s hand will increase in size and burst with happiness should another player decide to join along and Emote with them. Players familiar with TikTok might recognize the Lobby Track as it comes from musical artist Emmy Meli – currently has over 22 million views.
The Redcap Village Creative Hub will be available for players to jump in and explore with their friends until March 15th, 2022 at 10AM EST. This limited time hub will serve as a gateway and highlight selected Island maps and experiences created by some amazingly talented female Fortnite creators. Players will also be able to browse through these particular maps from the “Celebrating Women” section found on the Discovery tab. Epic Games added the Celebrating Women Flag prop to Creative earlier this month which can be implemented into builds and players will have the opportunity to listen to some of their favourite female recording artists including Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, Iggy Azalea, Avril Lavigne, Hailee Steinfeld, and Ariana Grande via the Icon Radio station – tunable while driving vehicles.
Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through the GeForce Now subscription service.
