Fortnitemares: Wrath of the Cube Queen Ushers In The Next Phase Of The Fortnite Halloween Event
After weeks of mobilizing, duplicating, and corrupting the land, the Golden Cube – or Glevin – has revealed its true power contained within the geometric structure with the Cube Queen emerging to begin the next phase of the Fortnitemares event. From the early days of the Fortnite Cubed storyline, players have noticed and tracked the individual movements of the Kevin the Cube clones to the centre of the Island: the Aftermath. The exact nature or motive behind their strange trajectory has been a mystery until recently when they formed together to create The Convergence as the corruption continues to spread. The Wrath of The Cube Queen has come to the Fortnite Island.
The annual Halloween celebration has already brought a multitude of spooktacular offerings including the Frankenstein’s Monster Outfit inspired by Universal Pictures and the Rick Grimes Outfit based on the iconic character from popular television series The Walking Dead which is currently in the middle of airing its eleventh and final season. Players have been battling Cube Monsters in unique zones called The Sideways and now another malevolent threat has manifested to terrorize the Island and the inhabitants – Caretakers – whom are the Cube Queen’s strongest warriors. They are incredibly tall and equally foreboding with spectral tendrils that will pull players toward them, sending them directly into The Sideways for one final showdown; players will be generously rewarded for taking them down.
Epic Games is bringing back the Horde Rush Limited-Time Mode (LTM) which originally launched on June 13th, 2019 and was not part of any Halloween celebrations; lasting only 6 days. The popular LTM has returned with some alterations and gives players the opportunity to fight alongside their squad as they push back Cube Monster attacks while racking up a high score with score multipliers, hitting combos, and eliminating as many Cube Monsters as possible before getting overwhelmed. The match will conclude once the Caretaker has been eliminated and players can utilize a variety of weapons to take them down including the Sideways Scythe and Pumpkin Launcher – the latter of which has been recently unvaulted alongside the Witch Broom Mythic item; perfect for evading capture.
The Horde Rush LTM became available on October 19th, 2021 at 9AM EST and will remain playable until November 2nd, 2021 at 9AM EST. Players can also complete three exclusive Horde Rush Quests that will unlock special Halloween themed rewards including the Thinking Juice Back Bling, Cuddle Scream Leader Spray, and a Cube Queen Banner Icon. These Quests can be completed in any order and will be available until the conclusion of the event at which point they will no longer be obtainable.
Those looking to unlock even more Halloween themed cosmetics and rewards can do so with Hollowhead’s Fornitemares Punchcard which will unlock the Raven’s Curse Spray, Midnight Showdown Loading Screen, and Wrathful Breakout Contrail. Players will need to complete a series of particular Fortnitemares Quests in order to unlock these rewards such as eliminating players with the Pumpkin Launcher and collecting Candy from Candy Buckets which can be found across the Island. Ariana Grande has returned – first appearing during the Rift Tour – with the Spacefarer Ariana Grande Outfit to help take down the Cube Monsters and players can complete her exclusive Punchcard to unlock the All-Weather Extractor (Dark Style) Pickaxe through the Monster Hunter Questline.
Subscribers to the Fortnite Crew will receive an added bonus after completing the Spacefarer Ariana Grande Punchcard in the form of the All-Weather Extractor (Brite Style) Pickaxe. Dark Jonesy is getting in on the Fortnitemares extravaganza with The Oracle Speaks Questline that will reward players with one of the coolest Gliders in Fortnite history – the Cube Cruiser Glider. Finally, the Containment Specialist has arrived to celebrate the upcoming release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and players can unlock the No Ghost Back Bling upon deploying Seismographs and taking out mini-Pufts.
Players looking to level up their Chapter 2 – Season 8 Battle Pass will have the opportunity to gain a massive XP boost during the Power Leveling Weekends which are scheduled to take place between October 22nd, 2021 at 7PM EST through October 25th, 2021 at 7PM EST with the final weekend running from October 29th, 2021 at 7PM EST and concluding on November 1st, 2021 at 7AM EST. These will grant a Supercharged status throughout the entire window and help players earn even more XP whenever they complete challenges, open chests, eliminate opponents, and more!
And with Halloween right around the corner, Epic Games has an assortment of papercraft cosplay and figures to put together for a truly spooktacular Fortnite Halloween celebration. Templates can be downloaded from the official Fortnitemares Papercraft Cosplay website which include Peely, Meowscles, and Fishstick masks (based on the All-Hollow’s Steve Outfit) in addition to mini-models of Shadow Midas, Crimson Sanctum, and Kevin the Cube with an archive of others. Epic Games is encouraging players to share their spooky creations on social media using the #MyFortnitemares hashtag before the event wraps up on November 2nd, 2021 at 9AM EST.
