Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Dimension Hop Exclusively Onto PlayStation 5 Consoles

Prepare to go dimension hopping with Ratchet & Clank on June 11th, 2021 as pre-order details have officially been released for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart which will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive. Insomniac Games confirmed the news via social media and in the latest PlayStation Blog that the game was built as a showpiece for PlayStation 5 and thus will not appear on PlayStation 4 consoles. Ratchet & Clank has been a PlayStation cornerstone for the past 19 years, with releases across all four previous console generations and the developers are excited to share the latest chapter in the franchise with fans around the world.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a brand new adventure that sees Dr. Nefarious use a device that has the ability to access alternate dimensions so that he might find a galaxy in which he always wins. As a result, Ratchet and Clank become separated and must work to reunite with each other once again, crossing paths with a variety of new characters including a female Lombax resistance fighter – her name will be kept a secret until launch it appears as Insomniac Games is pretty coy in regards to her identity. The game will be an excellent starting point for new players as the game is a stand-alone adventure meaning that playing previous entries in the series is not mandatory but returning players will find deeper layers of connection to previous titles.

Digital Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions

Players can pre-order Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart digitally starting February 11th, 2021 from the PlayStation Store for $89.99 CAD (Digital Standard Edition) and gain early access to several in-game items including the Carbonox armour from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (2003) which have been updated with high-definition materials, lighting responses, and ray-traced reflections as well as the Pixelizer weapon from Ratchet & Clank (2016) which has also received some visual updates for PlayStation 5.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is also available to pre-order from the PlayStation Store for $99.99 CAD and includes a Digital Soundtrack, Digital Artbook, five additional armour sets, 20 Raritanium which can be used to upgrade your weapons, and a sticker pack to use in Photo Mode – a first ever for the Ratchet & Clank series. Digital Deluxe Edition owners will also receive the Carbonox armour and Pixelizer weapon from the Standard Digital Edition.

Physical Launch Edition

Physical copies of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be available at participating retailers in both Canada and the United States for $89.99 CAD and includes early access to the Carbonox armour and Pixelizer weapon via a voucher that will be located inside the box and can be redeemed online. The cover art also features a special LAUNCH EDITION banner at the top in a similar style to DAY ONE EDITION which adorned the cover of several Xbox One launch titles.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart merchandise is also available to purchase from the PlayStation Gear store and those that pre-order the game will receive a $5 discount which can be used after the launch of the game; code will be emailed to customers and game must be pre-ordered before June 10th, 2021 at 11:59PM EST.
