Renegade Runner Will Help Fill Empty Void Players Felt After Failing To Unlock Popular Fortnite Outfit
Epic Games launched the premiere version of Fortnite on July 25th, 2017 with early access granting players the ability to check out “Save the World” for the very first time – the original story based mode which was intended to be the driving force of the game. When PlayerUnknown’s: Battlegrounds came into the picture in March 2017 and took the gaming community by storm, Epic Games quickly shifted focus and utilized their assets to develop a worthy competitor which has since become one of the most popular video games in history. The early days of Fortnite: Battle Royale were memorable with players being thrust into an experience that – for the time – was fresh and filled with great potential.
And for the past few years, players have been unlocking a myriad of cosmetics ranging from unique exclusives to mind blowing collaborations. Veteran Fortnite players will reminisce about a feature that predates the current and beloved Battle Pass system – Season Shop – which housed four rewards in total that required certain levels AND exchange of V-Bucks in order to possess. A novel concept indeed but grinding for experience points (XP) was more daunting than it is today but those who managed to achieve those particular levels were considered the most die-hard and dedicated of players.

The Season Shop was removed following Season 1 with the Battle Pass subsequently taking over and players that failed to purchase those four cosmetics were sadly out of luck because they have not been seen since and are unlikely to ever return. Nowadays, the most revered character to ever graced the Fortnite stage is Renegade Raider – obtainable after reaching Level 20 for 1,200 V-Bucks – with players considering it the mark of a true bonafide Fortnite player. The Outfit has become extremely sought after particularly by younger audiences that it is jokingly referred to as “wenegade waider” in popular meme culture; despite the heartbreak, Epic Games came up with a viable alternative.
Players could purchase the Renegade Robotics Bundle for 1,600 V-Bucks from the Item Shop which included the Renegade Runner Outfit, Raider’s Rucksack Back Bling, Renegade Star Pickaxe, Mark of the Renegade Wrap, and Renegade Reunion Loading Screen. Those looking at individual items could grab the Outfit for 1,200 V-Bucks or the Pickaxe and Wrap for 500 V-Bucks each; modest discount was offered with 600 V-Bucks in savings through the bundle. And unlike her sister which is also canonical Fortnite lore, Renegade Runner will likely be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
