Winterfest Returned To Fortnite With Seasonal Gifts For Players To Unwrap During Yuletide Festivities

The holiday season might be over but Fortnite players certainly had a lot of things to keep themselves busy during the festive days of Winterfest – an annual tradition which essentially celebrates Christmas on the beloved island. Epic Games brings about the event every year (excluding 2020) to facilitate fun in-game activities whilst the development team takes time off for themselves to enjoy the holidays with their own friends and families. Winterfest ran from December 13th, 2022 and wrapped up two weeks later on January 3rd, 2023 with the event likely to return again this year. Epic Games has a catalogue of real-world themed holiday content including Valentine’s Day and Fortnitemares for Halloween.

The primary draw of Winterfest is the presents, nestled under the Christmas tree with players able to open up one gift each day for a FREE reward. Two Outfits – Arctic Adeline and Sled Ready Guff – were able with a third Outfit – Guff Gringle – granted exclusively to PC players. Cozy Cabin also contained a variety of fun and creative interactive elements including a fireplace that provided XP bonuses, a llama neon light which could be illuminated, and bells that played an abridged Fortnite version of the classic carol “Jingle Bells” just to name a few. Gifts were available to open until the conclusion of the event with players unable to obtain them afterwards – extremely unlikely to ever return in the future.

Subscribers to the Fortnite Crew service were eligible to receive the Chill-la-la-Llama Back Bling as an additional reward for both playing Fortnite and being part of the paid monthly program. It was a frozen variation of the Fa-La-La-Llama Back Bling with a reactive animation – sneezing after eliminations or loot chests being opened. Lastly, players were given an opportunity to earn the Curling Iron Emote by playing with five of their friends across any game mode – Winterfest Callout islands included.

Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
