DC Comics Anti-Hero Black Adam Wrecks Havoc On Fortnite Island With Dwayne Johnson Collaboration
The hierarchy of Fortnite has changed – Black Adam has arrived as a savior to some and destroyer to others; wrecking havoc in the process. The highly anticipated superhero film starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero officially opened in theatres on October 21st, 2022 with Epic Games releasing him in Fortnite a day early on October 20th, 2022 at 8PM EST in the Item Shop. This is not the first time that Johnson has appeared in Fortnite as portrays The Foundation – providing both the likeness and voice for the character. In preparation for this reveal, Epic Games added additional bones to the model in order to animate the iconic eyebrow raise which Johnson is famously known for showcasing.
Players could purchase the Black Adam Bundle for 2,000 V-Bucks from the Item Shop which included the Black Adam Outfit with Reactive and Cloak On Styles, Symbol of Shiruta Back Bling, Teth’s Throne Emote, Hawkman’s Mace Pickaxe, and Teth Ascended Loading Screen. With the exception of the Loading Screen – exclusive to the bundle – each cosmetic could be procured separately with the Outfit, Pickaxe, and Emote priced at 1,800 V-Bucks, 800 V-Bucks, and 300 V-Bucks respectively; a discount of 900 V-Bucks was offered through the bundle. Epic Games and DC Comics have had quite a positive and successful partnership which has seen several comic book crossovers manifest over the past few years as well as numerous characters including Starfire and Dreamer dropping onto the Fortnite island.
Johnson has been fighting for Black Adam to hit the big screen for nearly 15 years – spearheading the ambitious project himself. Filming was delayed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in April 2021 with Aldis Hodge (The Invisible Man), Pierce Brosnan (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again), Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before), and Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets) starring alongside Johnson as Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone. Black Adam has grossed $166.9 million dollars from domestic sales in Canada and the United States alone and will release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on January 3rd, 2023 with an exclusive steelbook through Best Buy while supplies last.
Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
