Mario And Friends Are Bringing Their A-Game With New Details For Mario Golf: Super Rush

The Mushroom Kingdom is preparing to host another round of golf for the first time on Nintendo Switch consoles as Mario goes head-to-head with other beloved Nintendo characters in a brand NEW content-packed adventure. Mario Golf: Super Rush is scheduled to launch on June 25th, 2021 and puts a twist on the classic pastime with easy to learn controls that will ensure players of all skill levels can get a nice shot onto the fairway. Nintendo first unveiled the project back in February 2020 during a Nintendo Direct presentation and took to Twitter on May 17th, 2021 to tee up some fresh details on the upcoming title including game modes, character roster, online play, and more!

Mario Golf: Super Rush offers up a multitude of techniques and abilities to turn any novice golf enthusiast into an absolute pro golfer. Studying the wind and terrain will give players a better understanding of each course with the Shot Gauge revealing how each shot will curve based on the slope of a course whilst the Scan Function provides additional information including analyzing the distance, elevation, and overall topography of the fairway. Golfers can also take advantage of specialty shots such as the Curve Shot which bends the flight path of each shot and can be used to avoid hitting obstacles – like trees or boulders – that are blocking the way.

The Spin Shot is another useful technique that players can master which adds some additional movement to the ball once it makes contact with the ground and there are plenty more techniques to practice once the game releases in a few short weeks. Mario Golf: Super Rush also takes advantage of motion controls with players able to opt out of traditional BUTTON CONTROLS in favour of MOTION CONTROLS as the Joy-Con controllers can be held like an actual golf club and responds to the swings, putts, and drives from the player, leaving them feeling like they are on an actual golf course. This is also the first time in the Mario Golf series where motion controls have been implemented.

The Mario Golf: Super Rush roster includes sixteen beloved Mushroom Kingdom characters including fan favourites such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser as well as some newcomers to the series including King Bob-omb, Chargin’ Chuck, Boo, and Paulina with the possibility of more characters being added in the future – some empty space is noticeable in the latest Overview Trailer with potentially up to ten (10) additional characters to unlock.

Nintendo also provided some NEW details on the upcoming Speed Golf mode which is a marathon style, free-for-all experience. Players will no longer need to wait their turn in order to play and compete at the same time to be the first one to make it to the green. Collecting items – hearts, coins – can help replenish exhausted stamina and help clear a path with each character possessing a Special Dash that gives them an added boost to rocket ahead of the competition. Players can also make use of signature Special Shots that can knock other balls out of the way – clearing a path – or sending them backwards and consequently even further from the hole.

Each golfer has their own set of strengths, weaknesses, stamina, and speed which will aid players in strategizing their game and come out on top of the competition with up to four players able to hit the course at a time with online multiplayer. Players will be able to connect with other players with from all around the world and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online matches. Mario Golf: Super Rush will also introduce Battle Golf which features similar Speed Golf mechanics but with a different set of rules as players race to capture three of the nine available holes on a closed stadium sized golf course with plenty of hazards, power-ups, and fierce competition.

Mario Golf: Super Rush is scheduled to release on June 25th, 2021 exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite.
