French-Malian Singer Aya Nakamura Closes Curtain On Fortnite Soundwave Series Concert Experiences
The Fortnite Soundwave Series – a musical concert experience – officially wrapped up with a fifth and final performance on October 9th, 2022 at 12PM EST after showcasing talented artists from all around the world. Epic Games kicked off the limited time engagement with Egyptian singer Mohamed Hamaki back in October 2021 alongside Australian singer-songwriter Tones And I, Brazilian rapper Emicida, and Japanese Pop Artist Gen Hoshino who headlined their own respected shows the following year. Players could drop in with their friends to enjoy an interactive escape which highlighted music from the artists and awarded both XP and cosmetic rewards to everyone that participated in the event.
The Aya Nakamura experience was showcased for 72 hours with players able to earn two exclusive rewards – Aya’s Island Loading Screen and Soundwave Series – Aya Nakamura Spray – immediately after their first time playing through the roughly 15 minute show. The island was built by Atlas Creative who previously designed the NBA 75 All-Star Hub in honour and recognition of the historic diamond anniversary season and featured several music videos accompanied by a digital avatar of Nakamura herself from Mado XR – previous concerts utilized real world footage of the performers. The Item Shop also included the Copines Emote available for 500 V-Bucks with moves inspired her song of the same name. Epic Games has not announced whether the Soundwave Series will return in the future.
Epic Games would like to strongly convey that there will be several sequences with flashing lights during the Aya Nakamura experience and urges those with a history of photosensitivity to consult with their doctor(s) prior to attending the event. For their own health and safety, Epic Games is also advising that anyone who begins to experience any form of discomfort to exit the show immediately for their own personal safety. Those hoping to enjoy the show while simultaneously attempting to earn another Victory Royale can watch it by activating Picture-in-Picture whilst playing in Battle Royale and Creative playlists; accessible through the settings menu. The interactive gameplay elements that are utilized and found throughout this experience will unfortunately not be playable through this feature.
Content creators currently enrolled in the Epic Games Support-A-Creator program will be allowed to host VOD (Video On Demand) clips from the Soundwave Series: Aya Nakamura experience on their own YouTube channels and monetize them without any penalties. Twitch streamers can broadcast the show to their channels for their online communities to enjoy but Epic Games is collectively unable to prevent clips from being flagged by any third party copyright detection software or systems. Players are urged to follow and respect platform guidelines prior to uploading content to their channels as it helps them avoid getting a copyright strike or a complete channel ban under certain circumstances.
Fortnite is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, Windows PC, and Android devices – iOS compatibility is available through GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
